Yesterday, we woke up bright and early to go whitewater rafting in the Sarapiqui River. We took an hour and a half bus ride, which had some beautiful views along the way, to the river. Everyone has been working very hard throughout the day, and in really humid conditions, so it was nice to get a break and do something different. This is especially the case since many of us had never gone whitewater rafting before!

After everyone got settled in with their life jacket, helmet, and paddle, we were ready to go! It was wonderful enjoying the sights and sounds of the rainforest as we paddled downriver. The tranquility of the rainforest surrounding us, as well as the sounds of the birds and other animals was an added bonus to the fun of actually paddling downriver. The guides were really fun and had us laughing almost the entire time. They even made sure to give us breaks so we could swim and enjoy the freshness of the water.

Halfway through, all the boats met up underneath a tree at a calm part of the river. Then the guides broke out a ton of fresh pineapples, watermelon, and coconut cookies. Juliana taught us the deliciousness of putting a piece of pineapple between two coconut cookies and eating it like a sandwich. It was so good! Riquisimo! There is not much better than enjoying fresh fruits with beautiful views, after all that exercise.

After finishing the rafting, we got to shower off and head to lunch. There was a buffet waiting for us, which included many traditional Costa Rican food and fresh juice. While eating, we even had a nice view of the Rio Sarapiqui.
Then we went back to Bonanza! We have a big week of work ahead of us! There is a lot to do before we finish our project, and our individual projects!
Pura Vida!
